"Tribal community will progress when tribal youth will get opportunity for good education": PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday emphasised that the tribal community will progress when the youth will get good education and for that the central government is working hard towards building Eklavya Model Residential Schools in the tribal areas.

Addressing the public gathering in Jharkhand's Hazaribagh, PM Modi said that 40 Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) are being inaugurated and foundation stones have been laid for 25 more EMRS.

"Our tribal community will progress when tribal youth will get the opportunity for good education. For this, our government is working hard towards building Eklavya Model Residential Schools in tribal areas. From here, 40 Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) are being inaugurated and foundation stones have been laid for 25 EMRS," PM Modi said.

He further said that he launched the Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan with an outlay of around Rs 80,000 crore.

"This scheme will cover around 63,000 tribal villages for their development. It will benefit more than 5 crore people. I am happy that this scheme is starting from the land of Bhagwan Birsa Munda. Thousands of poor people of Jharkhand got their own pucca house under PM Awas Yojana. And now, within a few days, the foundation stone and inauguration of development projects worth more than Rs 80 thousand crore have been done in Jharkhand. These schemes are related to the welfare and upliftment of the tribal society," the PM said.

The Prime Minister said that he is getting the privilege of being a participant in the development journey of Jharkhand.

"Today once again I am getting the privilege of being a participant in the development journey of Jharkhand. I came to Jamshedpur a few days ago. From Jamshedpur, I launched development projects worth hundreds of crores of rupees for Jharkhand," PM said.

Earlier, PM Modi laid the foundation stone, inaugurated and launched various projects worth over Rs 83,300 crore in Jharkhand's Hazaribagh.

This visit marks the second time in 17 days that PM Modi is in Jharkhand, following his previous visit to Jamshedpur on September 15.

In order to boost the educational infrastructure for the tribal communities, the Prime Minister inaugurated 40 Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) and laid the foundation stone for 25 EMRS worth over Rs 2,800 crore.

The Prime Minister also launched the Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan scheme with a total outlay of over Rs 79,150 crore.

Jharkhand is expected to hold elections for its 81-member legislative assembly by December 2024, as the current government's tenure is set to end in January 2025. The Election Commission is yet to announce the election schedule.

In the 2020 assembly election, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha won 30 seats, the Bharatiya Janta Party 25 and the Congress won 16. (ANI)
