Mahatma Gandhi's great-grandson, Maharashtra Congress leaders pay tribute to Bapu at his residence in Mumbai

Maharashtra Congress incharge Ramesh Chennithala, Mahatma Gandhi's great-grandson Tushar Gandhi and other congress leaders visited the Mumbai residence of Mahatma Gandhi, Mani Bhawan on the occasion of 155th Gandhi Jayanti.Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala urged fellow citizens to follow the path of Mahatma Gandhi at a time when there is a "divisive agenda" being flourished in the country. "Today we have come to visit Mani Bhawan. Gandhi Ji stayed here for 16-18 years. The world and the nation should move forward following the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi. We all should seek inspiration from Mahatma Gandhi. Every citizen of the nation must follow the path of compassion. We all should maintain brotherhood with each other..."Citing the current missile attacks by Iran on Israel, Chennithala said, "Today we can see what is happening in Iran and Israel, we must look forward towards the path of Gandhi Ji which taught non-violence."

Mumbai Congress chief Varsha Gaikwad while speaking to ANI said, "We paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti...We all should follow the path of non-violence, compassion shown by Mahatma Gandhi...Some people are trying to break the social harmony...A rally will be taken out at 3 PM. We are trying to spread the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi. There should be communal harmony between people and safety of women".Meanwhile, Maharashtra Congress President also paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at his residence in Mumbai.In a post on X, he said, "The whole life of Mahatma Gandhi, who showed the way of peace and prosperity to the whole world, inspired self-government, was determined towards truth and loyal to action, is an example for every generation."Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi reflected on the legacy of the Mahatma and his profound impact on society."Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi had explained to the world the importance of travel along with precious ideas like truth, non-violence, satyagraha. He believed that to understand the pain and suffering of our people, it is very important to go among them and understand them. After returning from South Africa, Gandhi ji travelled all over India. Apart from Champaran Satyagraha, Dandi March and Noakhali, Gandhi ji kept travelling throughout his life. It is said that in his entire life, Bapu walked an average of 18 kilometres every day. In this much travelling, he could have circled the earth twice," Priyanka Gandhi wrote in a post on X.Born on October 2, 1869, in Porbandar town of Gujarat, Mahatma Gandhi or Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi adopted a non-violent resistance and was at the forefront of the freedom struggle against colonial British rule with utmost patience. This led to India finally achieving its independence in 1947. (ANI)
