Telangana Forest Minister Konda Surekha has criticized Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leaders for allegedly harassing her on social media following her recent visit to Medak district, where she was honoured with a traditional shawl (Cheneta Mala) by BJP MP Madavaneni Raghunandan Rao.

Following the event, a derogatory post surfaced online, which left Minister Surekha distressed, causing her to lose sleep and appetite.

While addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan on Monday, Surekha stated, "As an in-charge minister, I visited Medak district. MP Raghunandan spoke about the issues and honoured me with a traditional shawl (Cheneta Mala). The Cheneta Mala is a prestigious fabric associated with weaver communities. However, a post was shared on social media with a photo quoting 'who gave them Shaadi Mubarak.' This was portrayed in a derogatory manner, insulting me, and it's very distressing. I haven't eaten since yesterday and have lost sleep."

"BRS leaders, out of frustration from losing power, don't know what they are doing," she added.

She further criticized BRS leaders, including former Chief Minister KCR, KTR, and Harish Rao, for their alleged involvement in the harassment.

"I am questioning KCR, KTR, and Harish Rao. If the women in your home were trolled in the same way, think about it. You were ministers for 10 years; it's your responsibility to respect women. If you continue to troll, there will be consequences. Everyone calls me 'akka' (sister). One day, people will retaliate. Harish Rao and KTR should apologise immediately," she added.

Former minister and BRS leader Harish Rao responded to Surekha's allegations on X, saying, "Respecting women is everyone's responsibility."

"No one will tolerate disrespect towards them. I sympathize with @IKondaSurekha's distress and strongly condemn such misbehaviour on social media. I urge everyone to behave responsibly on social media platforms," he wrote. (ANI)
