Union Minister Kiren Rijiju on Wednesday asserted that the role of the Minority Affairs Ministry is not focused solely on the Muslim community but works for the benefit of all minority communities in the country.

Speaking to the media about the significant achievements of the Ministry of Minority Affairs in 100 days of the NDA goverment, Rijiju criticized the previous Congress government, saying during their tenure they created an impression that the ministry catered exclusively to Muslims, which has hampered its mission.

"Under the Congress regime, Muslims were treated as a "vote bank," and little was done to uplift the community in a meaningful way. This approach left many Muslims impoverished and did not serve the long-term development goals of the community," he said.

The Minister stressed that his government's approach has been more inclusive, ensuring that all six recognized minority communities, i.e. Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains and Parsis receive equal attention.

"The Ministry of Minority Affairs is now working for all minority communities. The government is implementing schemes aimed at uplifting all minority groups, with a focus on reaching those who had been previously neglected. The ministry is creating targeted schemes to ensure that every community benefits from government programs and policies," Rijiju added.

He also expressed pride in the progress made by minority communities in the country and said that all minority communities in India are safe, sound, secure and enjoying better opportunities than in many other countries.

The minister said that the government is fully committed to fostering inclusivity and addressing the needs of all minority groups in India.

"These 100 days have also been focussed towards strengthening of the existing ecosystem through digitized Scheme processes and evaluation mechanisms," Rijiju said. (ANI)
