This initiative focusses on promoting cleanliness and hygiene across the university campus through a variety of activities aimed at improving sanitation.

On Tuesday, September 24, 2024, the university conducted a Swachhata Pledge ceremony, which was attended by various stakeholders, including students, faculty members, and staff. Prof. P. K. Joshi, Director of Swachh JNU, addressed the gathering, briefing them on the series of activities that have been carried out as part of this campaign, including the recently concluded Swachhata Pakhwada.

He highlighted the importance of continuous efforts to maintain cleanliness and promote hygiene across the campus.

The event was chaired by Prof. Santishree Dhulipudi Pandit, Vice Chancellor of JNU, who, in her address, paid tribute to the legacy of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar for his contributions to awakening India's social consciousness. She expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the university's sanitation staff, acknowledging their crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness and well-being of the campus community.

Emphasising an empathetic approach towards the working staff, she underlined the importance of their welfare and recognised their invaluable contributions to the smooth functioning of the university.

The event was graced by the presence of Prof. Brajesh Kumar Pandey, Rector I of the University, who led the participants in taking the Swachhata Pledge, reaffirming their commitment to keeping the university environment clean and hygienic.

The event was attended by the university's registrars, administrative staff, students, and sanitation staff. The event marked a collective effort by the JNU community to contribute to a cleaner, healthier campus, in line with the broader national objectives of Swachh Bharat. (ANI)
