A railway staff member has been detained by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) for illegally possessing railway detonators and, without any emergency, placing them on the railway track, officials said on Tuesday.

Dr Swapnil D Nila, Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of Central Railway, told ANI, "Detonators, which are used in the regular operations of the railway, were found on a railway track near Sagphata station, between Khandwa and Bhusaval. These detonators did not cause any damage to the railway track. Shabeer, a railway employee, has been detained by the RPF for investigation. He has been arrested under the Railways Property (Unlawful Possession) Act and has been remanded to judicial custody for three days after being presented before the court. The RPF is continuing its investigation into the case."

Madhya Pradesh Minister Vishvas Kailash Sarang stated that a probe is underway and that it is inappropriate to comment before the report is finalised.

Railway Board Chairman and CEO Satish Kumar said, "All our railway staff and security agencies are vigilant. The NIA, ATS, and civil police are involved in the investigation. Once the investigation is complete, appropriate action will be taken. It would be premature to comment until the investigation concludes." (ANI)
