Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Tuesday launched a scathing attack on Congress, calling the party 'anti-Dalit' and accused them of 'insulting their leaders'.

CM Saini's remarks come a day after Union Minister Amit Shah, speaking about Rahul Gandhi's visit, said that the Congress leader spoke of getting away with reservation.

Speaking with ANI, CM Saini said, "The basic character of Congress has always been that it is anti-Dalit. They have always insulted their leaders. If any Dalit leader in Congress rises a little with his hard work, then this has been the character of Congress which is in front of the whole country that it has worked to crush him down."

Saini further mentioned that during the rule of Bhupinder Singh Hooda from 2009 to 2014, Congress Dalit leaders had given bytes against them.

Earlier, in a post on X, Saini reminded Dalits of 'dangerous' and 'violent' rule of Congress and Hooda.

"There is no need to tell the Dalits of Haryana how dangerous and violent was the rule of Congress and Hooda for the Dalits, whose nightmares haunt them even today. In all the cases of Dalit oppression, there was clear connivance or silent support of the Hooda government," Saini said on X.

"Just because a dog barked, a Dalit girl who was going to become an officer was burnt alive in Mirchpur. Whether that horrific scene is in Gohana or Mirchpur or Bhagana, all these dark dates in the calendar will be found during the rule of Hooda," Saini added

Saini further asserted that Congress has 'humiliated' and 'despised' the Dalit leader, Kumari Selja

"In fact, the conduct of Congress is anti-Dalit. They have humiliated and despised everyone from Baba Saheb Ambedkar to Babu Jagjivan Ram, Sitaram Kesari, Ashok Tanwar and now a Dalit woman leader," CM Saini said on X.

Voting for the 90-member legislative assembly in Haryana will be held on October 5. Votes will be counted on October 8 along with that in Jammu and Kashmir. (ANI)
