Lashing out at West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, state BJP General Secretary and MLA Agnimitra Paul said that Mamata has consistently shown a lack of respect toward Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Paul further stated that the CM has refused to acknowledge the PM's contribution to the upcoming American investment in the semiconductor sector in the state.

"Mamata Banerjee has consistently shown a lack of respect towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi, even when he has taken significant steps for the betterment of West Bengal. Yesterday, the Prime Minister brought forward a major development project aimed at boosting Bengal's growth, which could bring immense opportunities to the state. Yet, Mamata remains ungrateful, refusing to acknowledge his contribution. Not once has she expressed appreciation or thanked the PM, instead attempting to hog credit for herself. This blatant disregard is not just disrespectful to the PM but an insult to the people of Bengal," said Paul in her reply to CM Mamata's latest post on social media platform X.

"While she constantly writes letters to the PM regarding DVC (Damodar Valley Corporation), Mamata can't seem to manage even a single line of thanks for the significant development projects PM Modi has introduced for the state. Her silence and refusal to publicly appreciate his efforts only highlight her political arrogance and unwillingness to give credit where it's due. This reflects her blatant disregard not only for the Prime Minister but for the growth and future of West Bengal. Prime Minister Modi's project includes initiatives that focus on infrastructure, job creation, and economic upliftment, paving the way for long-term growth in the state. Mamata's silence and refusal to publicly thank him only underline her disrespect and arrogance," Paul added further.

Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister posted on X, "I am fortunate enough to share with you all the contribution of our West Bengal government in the historic international investment decision for Kolkata, as kindly announced by Hon'ble President of the USA with our Hon'ble PM Modi yesterday. The background story of our long and arduous exercises which lie behind the great news about a major American investment in our State in the semiconductor sector is truly worth sharing. Yesterday's declaration by the Hon'ble President and the Hon'ble PM regarding imminent setting up of a Global Capability Centre in semiconductor sector by Global Foundries as the anchor-industry in West Bengal has a history of relentless promotion by the West Bengal Govt."

"Since early last year, the State IT Dept. and our PSU Webel approached leading semiconductor industries as many chip-designing & packaging StartUps had relocated to various Webel IT Parks after the Covid pandemic. Global Foundries, Synopsis, Micron and a few other leading international semiconductor companies held a number of technology-symposiums in West Bengal. They visited our units and offices to discuss emerging technologies & investment potential. This year, the State Govt.-sponsored Global VLSI Conference 2024, held in Kolkata, witnessed participation of all leading giants from the Semiconductor industries. Hence, continuous deliberations coupled with successful promotion of the State's capacity have thus led to Global Foundries' recent proposal to set up a Global Capability Centre in Kolkata. I assure all support to the emerging investment in this frontier sector. Let West Bengal be the true destination for knowledge-based Industries," CM Mamata added. (ANI)
