A man was arrested early Monday morning for the murder of a minor boy, a resident of Uttar Pradesh.

On Sunday night, Bicholim Police received a complaint from a Sanquelim resident stating that the accused, identified as Chandu Patil (30), a native of Maharashtra, had killed the victim by striking his head with a blunt object, causing multiple head injuries that led to his death.

Upon receiving the information, forensic teams and a dog squad were dispatched to the scene, and the body was transferred to the Goa Municipal Corporation Morgue.

Two teams were formed by Bicholim Police to investigate the incident.

The accused was apprehended at Kalyan Railway Station within six hours of the crime and was subsequently brought back to Bicholim Police Station.

In another case, on April 13, police registered an offence after the murder of a five-year-old girl in the Vasco area of South Goa. The police rounded up 15-20 suspects following the incident.

Detailing the incident, SP South Goa, Sunita Sawant, said, "The girl's dead body has been examined by the police surgeon, and a post-mortem has been conducted. The post-mortem has confirmed that the girl was sexually assaulted, after which she was murdered by strangling."

"We have rounded up nearly 15-20 labourers working in the building... Vasco Police has registered an offence on behalf of the state of sexual assault and murder under sections 376, 302 of the IPC, under the POCSO act, and also under the Goa Children Act... Rape and murder is confirmed due to strangulation," she added. (ANI)
