Haryana Leader of the Opposition and former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Sunday expressed confidence in his party's ability to win in the assembly election, saying that the public has made up their mind to form a Congress government in Haryana with a thumping majority.

"We are getting a lot of support and the public has made up their mind to form the Congress government in Haryana with a thumping majority," Hooda said.

While speaking about the Chief Minister's face for Haryana, Hooda said that Congress's high command will take a decision on it.

"The opinion of Congress MLAs will be taken and then the Congress high command will take a decision on it," he said.

Earlier in the day, exuding confidence in winning the upcoming Haryana Assembly Elections, Congress MP Deepender Singh Hooda said that the people have decided to change the Bharatiya Janata Party-led government in the state.

"All the Congress leaders will contest the elections together and will be seen in all the campaigns...People have decided to change the BJP government," he said.

The Congress in its manifesto has announced seven guarantees for Haryana assembly polls which will be part of its election manifesto, promising restoration of the Old Pension Scheme, two lakh jobs, caste survey, 300 units of free power and free medical treatment upto Rs 25 lakh. Making the announcement about the guarantees, party chief Mallikarjun Kharge said here that guarantees pertain to women, social security, youth, the poor, and the farmers.

On September 20, Haryana's Chief Electoral Officer Pankaj Agarwal stated that the Election Commission of India, along with the Chief Electoral Officer's office, has introduced special measures to increase voter turnout in the 15th Haryana Legislative Assembly General Election on October 5, compared to the last election.

Voters are being encouraged to participate through various SVEEP (Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation) activities, including slogan writing, painting, street plays, and poster making.

Voting for the 90-member Haryana Legislative Assembly will take place on October 5, with counting scheduled for October 8, along with that of Jammu and Kashmir.

In 2019, BJP emerged as the single-largest party with 40 seats. Congress won 30 seats. (ANI)
