Haryana Police Director General (DGP) Shatrujeet Kapur was awarded by Union Home Minister Amit Shah on September 10 after the state police set a new benchmark in cybercrime control, representing the nation with its exceptional performance.

The DGP was awarded for the outstanding and efficient management of Cyber Helpline 1930 at a ceremony held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.

Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Cyber, Mamta Singh, was also present during the event.

The recognition highlights the state's police's leadership in combating cybercrime across the country, solidifying its reputation for excellence in this field.

The DGP extended his congratulations to the entire Cyber Helpline 1930 team and urged them to continue their dedicated efforts in the fight against cybercrime.

DGP Kapur said that the number of personnel on the cyber helpline was increased by three to four times, and strong strategies were developed to counter the methods of the cybercriminals.

Speaking to ANI on Friday, the DGP said, "Cybercrime has emerged as a major challenge across the country. The Haryana Police prioritized this issue by enhancing its cybercrime control systems. The number of personnel on the Cyber Helpline was increased by three to four times, and strategies were developed to counter cybercriminals' methods."

Further, he added that collaborations with banks and RBI were established to curb down the cyber fraud, further adding that telecom companies were also involved in efforts to block the fraudulent SIM card frauds.

"Collaborations with banks and the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) were established to curb cyber fraud. Additionally, telecom companies were involved in efforts to block fraudulent SIM cards. Awareness campaigns were launched across social media, print, and electronic media to educate the public about cybercrime tactics. The results of these efforts have been significant. The rate of blocked cyber fraud funds increased from eight percent in September 2023 to 36 per cent in August 2024--the highest in the country. Moreover, if a complaint is filed within six hours of the fraud, up to 70% of the defrauded amount can be blocked, a rate unmatched across the nation. Haryana Police, which ranked 25th in terms of blocking cyber fraud amounts in September 2023, now holds the top position in the country. Haryana Police's success in cybercrime control has set a new standard, making the state a national leader in this critical area," he added.

The event, which marked the first anniversary of the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) and the launch of several initiatives to prevent cybercrime, was attended by senior officers from various states. (ANI)
