Launching a scathing attack against the Bharatiya Janata Party over one nation, one election initiative, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Sanjay Singh said that BJP is a party of one nation, one corruption and one nation, one commission. He added that the BJP is running fake propaganda that a lot of money gets wasted in holding elections to evade accountability.
"BJP is a party of one nation, one corruption and one nation, one commission. They have broken all the records of corruption. They want such a dictatorial government in the country so that people cannot ask them questions for at least five years. The three black laws would not have been taken back if the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections had not happened. The price of petrol and diesel will never be lowered in there won't be elections in the country. Cylinder prices will not be regulated in the absence of elections," said Sanjay Singh. He highlighted that the elections are a way to ensure that inflation is under control as polls put pressure on the government. "The elections build pressure on the government. Inflation stays in control and the people in power remain accountable." He further emphasised that Arvind Kejriwal talks about one nation, one education. Adding to this he said, "BJP is running fake propaganda that a lot of money gets wasted in holding elections. Who are they making fooling?" Meanwhile Karnataka Deputy CM DK Shivakumar salso opposed the Centre's move claiming that the Government wanted regional parties to stop existing. "The Congress party does not believe in One Nation, One Election, practically it is not possible...They want to ease out all the state parties. They feel that only national parties should survive. In the federal structure, you cannot do that. They are taking a big risk. The Congress party completely opposes," he said. The Cabinet approved the 'One Nation, One Election' proposal, which proposes simultaneous Lok Sabha and assembly elections, with urban body and panchayat polls to be held within 100 days. The High-level Committee on Simultaneous Elections, constituted under the chairmanship of former President Ram Nath Kovind, submitted its report to President Droupadi Murmu earlier this year. The government said that the report, comprising 18,626 pages, is an outcome of extensive consultations with stakeholders, experts, and research work of 191 days, since its constitution on September 2, 2023.
