MP: Immersion of Bappa still underway in Bhopal, Govt ensures safety and security

The immersion of Lord Ganesha (Bappa) idols began on Ananta Chaturdashi is still going on amid the safe and sound arrangement along with keeping cleanliness in mind in the state capital Bhopal on Wednesday.

At Prempura Ghat in the city, the immersion of Bappa has been going on smoothly since yesterday night and the idols gathered here are being immersed one by one. Four big cranes have been placed for immersion of big idols while a separate space (Kund) has been prepared for small idols.

The district administration has made all the necessary arrangements keeping cleanliness in mind. Puja material is also being collected separately and people are prohibited going near the pond and throwing puja material in it.

"Special arrangements have been made by the Police administration, PWD and Bhopal Municipal Corporation for immersion of idols here at Prempura Ghat. Four big cranes and two poclain machines have been placed here through which immersion is going on. Proper barricades have been placed so that no people can go near the water," said Chandra Shekhar Pandey, Additional Commissioner of Police (ACP, TT Nagar).

"Idols are placed on sliders with the help of cranes and then they are released into the water. Along with this, a kund has been prepared where immersion of small idols are performed. Proper Police force has been deployed here for the safety measures," he added.

Ganesh Chaturthi festival commenced on September 7 and came to an end with Anantha Chaturdashi. This festival is also known as Vinayak Chaturthi or Vinayak Chavithi. During Ganesh Chaturthi, Lord Ganesha is worshipped as the god of new beginnings and the remover of obstacles.
