Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva, while addressing a joint press conference on Tuesday, said that Arvind Kejriwal has pushed Delhi towards anarchy and communism by nominating Atishi as the new face of the Chief Minister.

The Delhi BJP chief was holding the joint press conference with MPs Manoj Tiwari, Kamaljit Sahrawat and Bansuri Swaraj.

"Delhiites are tolerating a corrupt government and now they will have to bear an anti-national government. History is witness to the anti-national and anti-social thinking of Atishi on various issues, starting from the Kargil war. She says vote for the goons but don't vote for the capable (BJP)," said Virendra Sachdeva.

"By saying that Kejriwal will remain the Chief Minister, I am just a face, Atishi has revealed that she is a puppet CM; it remains to be seen whether the remote is in Kejriwal's or Sisodia's hands," stated Sachdeva.

The BJP chief further said, "The Aam Aadmi Party leaders, disappointed with the public reaction to the corruption of the Kejriwal government, have now started a makeover of the party but will not be able to hide the dark spots of corruption, inefficiency and anarchy even if they want to."

"Kejriwal may change the face of his government but the issue in the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections will remain the corruption of the Kejriwal government. The Aam Aadmi Party will have to answer the questions of the public. Every section of society, poor, farmers, slum dwellers, middle class, businessmen, women, youth and students--will question him," he added.

The Delhi BJP President said that Kejriwal was a criminal of the people of Delhi yesterday, is guilty today and will remain guilty tomorrow too because his corruption and inefficiency have made Delhi the most polluted and underdeveloped capital of the world.

Virendra Sachdeva on Tuesday also alleged that the Delhi Minister's parents had written mercy petitions to cancel the death sentence of the 2001 Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru. He also claimed that an "anti-national government" would now run the national capital.

BJP leader Manoj Tiwari also spoke on the occasion and said that the people of Delhi are calling the person chosen by Arvind Kejriwal as a temporary Chief Minister a dummy and puppet.

"She is of urban-naxal ideology and this is proved in her name itself, Marx and Lenin, these two words have given her the name Marlena. Tiwari said that this is the group that believes in naxalism, and they talk sweetly but the ideology is very dangerous," he said, adding that an example of this is Geetika Ruchika, who abuses Indian culture and is a very good friend of Atishi Marlena.

Tiwari further said, "Not only this, Atishi has also made statements from a platform to abuse and defame the country. This game is just to blindfold the people of Delhi, but the way the Supreme Court reprimanded and removed her, it has not happened to any Chief Minister till date."

"Aam Aadmi Party gave shelter to the tanker mafia, and was responsible for the deaths of children. The damage that Arvind Kejriwal has done to Delhi cannot be compensated by any resignation or the name of some other Chief Minister for 2.5 months," claimed Tiwari.

BJP's Kamaljeet Sehrawat also reacted to Atishi being elected as the face of the new Delhi Chief Minister and said that for the last several months Atishi has been invisibly using the power of the post of Chief Minister.

"For the last several months, whether it is traffic jams, waterlogging, or death due to electric shock, there was only one person responsible for it - Atishi," said Sehrawat.

"We have seen the condition of the education model, we have seen cracks in the walls and potholes in the roads. Today the people of Delhi are forced to think that when Atishi could not improve the situation by being invisible, then will she be able to do anything after getting the post. The Chief Minister of Delhi may have changed but the fate of Delhi has still not changed," added Sehrawat.

BJP leader Bansuri Swaraj said that it is an unfortunate day for Delhi because no matter who is the face, the full stop that the Delhi government has put on the development work in Delhi will remain.

Earlier today, Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal alleged that the Delhi Minister's parents had written mercy petitions to cancel the death sentence of Afzal Guru.

Calling Atishi a "Dummy CM," Maliwal said, "May God protect Delhi." She also shared a purported letter, which she claimed was the mercy petition written by Atishi's parents.

"Today is a very sad day for Delhi. A woman is being made the Chief Minister of Delhi whose family fought a long battle to save terrorist Afzal Guru from hanging. Her parents wrote mercy petitions to the Honourable President to save Afzal Guru. According to them, Afzal Guru was innocent and was framed as part of a political conspiracy," Maliwal said in a post on X.

"Although Atishi Marlena is just a 'Dummy CM,' this issue is related to the security of the country. May God protect Delhi!" she added.

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal resigned as Delhi Chief Minister on Tuesday, and the party's newly-elected legislative party leader Atishi has staked her claim to form the new government.

Kejriwal tendered his resignation to Delhi LG Vinai Kumar Saxena.

Kejriwal was released from Tihar Jail in the national capital on September 13 after the apex court granted him bail in the Delhi excise policy case.

The current term of the Delhi Assembly will end on February 11, 2025. The last assembly election in Delhi was held on February 8, 2020. AAP leaders have said that the assembly polls in Delhi should be held alongside those in Maharashtra and Jharkhand later this year. (ANI)
