The Indian Army on Tuesday unveiled two events in view of revolutionising military operations in high-altitude areas at Wari La in Ladakh.

The Army conducted "Him-Drone-A-Thon 2" and "Himtech-2024" for drone vendors and military technology development firms to harness cutting-edge technologies specially designed to enhance the Army's capabilities in high-altitude and challenging terrains.

Speaking to ANI, a drone vendor from Tara UAV Private Limited, Aditya, said that their drones mainly focus on the indigenisation of their components to provide logistics as well as surveillance solutions to the army as well as to facilitate search and rescue in places with difficult terrain.

"We at Tara UAV focus on the indigenisation of the components, providing proper logistics and surveillance solutions to the army. We had our trial here and it was our maiden flight. The Army has given us an excellent opportunity to showcase our drones, as they are made to perform in these challenging altitudes. Our drone has done well. We don't constrain it to logistics and surveillance but also make it versatile for usage. Our aim is also to facilitate search and rescue in difficult terrain," he said.

Another drone vendor from IdeaForge, Ankush Kokas, said that their drone helps in giving full video of the location of the border areas upon which the army can take calls for a mission.

He further said that they have demonstrated and had been doing trials with the Indian Army for a long time and have also benefitted from such events conducted by the Indian Army.

"Our drone will help the defence of India to surveillance the areas to give them the full video of the location of the border areas so they can continue their mission and take calls based on the video. For enterprise customers, we also sell drones and also to the police forces. We have been demonstrating and doing trials with the Indian army for a long time. we have benefitted from the Indian army giving us locations like this one to know if the drones can sustain the environment," he said.

The event is scheduled to take place between September 17 and September 18 in Wari La, near Leh, where indigenous innovators can showcase their development in military technology in high-altitude and challenging terrain. (ANI)
