Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav participated in the 'Safai Mitras' programme held in Bhopal on Tuesday, where he also inaugurated the 'Swachhata Pakhwada 2024'.

During his address, CM Yadav announced incentives for Safai Mitras working in urban bodies, which will be based on the star ratings achieved in the 'Swachhta Survey 2024'.

"It is Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birthday today, coinciding with Vishwakarma Jayanti. I extend my greetings to the people of the state on this occasion. Swachchhata Pakhwada is also being launched today and will continue until October 1 across the state and country," said CM Yadav.

Reflecting on PM Modi's call for cleanliness from the Red Fort, the Chief Minister remarked that initially, people didn't grasp the significance of cleanliness, but over time, it has gained widespread acceptance.

"I am proud to say that the country's villages have received the Open Defecation Free (ODF) Plus status, and exemplary work has been done in our state. Bhopal has been recognised as the 'Clean Capital' of the country, and Indore has been awarded the title of Cleanest City for the seventh consecutive time. Madhya Pradesh's achievements in cleanliness are remarkable. I extend my congratulations to all," CM Yadav stated.

Acknowledging the contributions of Safai Mitras, CM Yadav saluted them, comparing their dedication to that of soldiers. "Just as soldiers serve on the border, Safai Mitras work tirelessly to safeguard public health and prevent diseases. Our state's global recognition is largely due to their efforts. I salute you and congratulate you once again," he added.

The Chief Minister then announced incentive payments for Safai Mitras working in urban bodies (Nagariya Nikay) for their invaluable contributions. The amount will be determined by the 'star' certification in the Swachhta Survey 2024. Urban bodies with a 1-star rating will see all Safai Mitras receive Rs 1,000 each, with the incentive increasing incrementally up to Rs 7,000 for those in bodies achieving a 7-star rating.

Additionally, the Chief Minister inaugurated 50 'Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Kendras' in district hospitals. These centres aim to provide affordable, quality generic medicines to the public. Approximately 300 types of generic medicines will now be available across the state at reduced prices. (ANI)
