People from the Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) have got huge relief as, after 20 years, their houses get electricity under the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyay Maha Abhiyan (PM-JANMAN) in the Bheski village of Balrampur District.

Sarpanch of the Bheski village, Bhajan Ram said, "There was no electricity for the past twenty years. Now electricity has been provided and we are greatly relieved from it. The residents lived in darkness for the past 15-20 years..."

Balrampur DC Remigius Ekka stated, "This campaign is being carried out under the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyay Maha Abhiyan (PM-JANMAN). There are settlements of Pahadi Korwa at 235 different places in the district, in which 5070 people are residing, out of which electricity was not available in 1011 houses and now electricity connection has been given in these houses..."

Earlier on Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi underlined that many significant steps have been taken to empower the poor, Dalit, deprived and tribal families of the country since 2014 and said that PM Janman Yojana is being run for tribal brothers and sisters across the country.

Addressing the gathering in Jamshedpur, PM Modi said that through PM Janman Yojana efforts are being made to reach those tribes who are extremely backward and officials themselves reach out to such families to provide them with houses, roads, electricity, water, and education.

The Prime Minister also underlined that the first instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) was being started today which would ensure pucca houses to thousands of beneficiaries.

He added that other facilities like toilets, drinking water, electricity, and gas connections were also provided along with PMAY-G.

The Prime Minister emphasised that along with stabilising their present, the tribals have also started thinking about their better future. (ANI)
