Amidst heavy rainfall warning, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh enquired about the downpours in various areas of the state at the State Disaster Operation Centre in Dehradun's IT Park on Friday.

According to an official release from the Chief Minister's Office, "Chief Minister Dhami enquired about the condition of rain, roads, drinking water, electricity supply and other information from the District Magistrates."

The Chief Minister further, through video conferencing, directed all the district magistrates to keep people in safe places from areas affected by heavy rains and landslides.

As per the release, "Chief Minister Dhami said that in view of the heavy rains, adequate arrangements of food and milk for children should be ensured, along with the arrangements of accommodations for devotees and travellers."

CM Dhami instructed all the district magistrates to keep all the officers in alert mode at all times and enquired about the condition of water logging while issuing directions for better drainage arrangements.

He also asked the officials to warn the people living near river banks and other such areas about rising water levels in the rivers.

The Chief Minister instructed Secretary Disaster Management Vinod Kumar Suman to keep a constant watch on the condition of heavy rains in every district.

"Work in better coordination with the districts, so that any emergency situation can be dealt with immediately. Keep a special watch on all the sensitive areas of the state, heavy rainfall and disaster-prone areas," said CM Dhami.

The Chief Minister said that immediate action should be taken upon receiving any information regarding the disaster.

CM Dhami also instructed to keep the response time to a minimum and instructed the district magistrates that the connecting roads, which have been blocked due to rains, should be made operational for traffic soon.

The India Meteorological Department issued a warning on Thursday for heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand over the next three days.

According to the IMD, Uttarakhand is likely to experience light to moderate rainfall from September 12 to 14, with heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in isolated areas. Delhi and Uttar Pradesh are also likely to experience heavy rainfall during this period. (ANI)
