Delhi excise policy case: CBI court issues release warrant for CM Arvind Kejriwal

The Rouse Avenue court on Friday issued a warrant for the release of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal from Tihar Jail. He has been granted bail by the Supreme Court in a corruption case related to the alleged Delhi excise policy scam.

Earlier, he was granted interim bail in the money laundering case by the apex court.

Special judge Rakesh Syal issued a release warrant after accepting two surety bonds for Arvind Kejriwal.

The court has also accepted the request for sending the release warrant through special messenger for early release.

Advocate Rajat Bhardwaj and Vivek Jain Counsels for Arvind Kejriwal furnished surety bonds along with the order of the Supreme Court before the special CBI judge.

MLA Mohinder Goyal and Kuldip Mittal have given the surety bond of Rs. 10 lakh each as per the Supreme Court order.

Arvind Kejriwal was arrested by the CBI on June 26 in the case.

This came after he was granted bail in a money laundering case by the trial court on June 20.

This bail order passed by the trial court was challenged before the High Court. The matter related to his arrest in the ED case is pending before the Supreme Court.

Though he was granted interim bail till the disposal of the issue by the larger bench of the Supreme Court.

Now he has been granted bail in the CBI case from the Supreme Court. (ANI)
