Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party MP Dinesh Sharma on Friday lashed out at the Congress party and INDIA bloc, saying that they are trying to scatter the Indian society by any means possible because Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is desperate to get into power. He said that casteism is a poison, and this poison is hindering the progress of this country.

"The PM has said that there are only four castes--youth, farmers, women, and the poor. And we have to work for the welfare of these four castes. I ask the opposition to work for the deprived people in these four castes... Casteism is poison, and this poison is hindering the progress of this country," said the Delhi BJP MP.

"Earlier, we did not have a caste system, we had the 'Varn' system. The Mughals and the British converted this into a caste system and divided everything into castes. The foreign historians wrote the history and showcased the difference between forward and backward classes and tried to weaken Indian society. The Congress is also doing the same thing today. The Congress and its INDI Alliance are trying to scatter Indian society by any means possible... And all of this is because Rahul Gandhi is desperate to get into power. But he is not going to get it," he added further.

On Monday, leader of opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, said that the Congress party will think of scrapping reservations when India becomes a "fair place," which it is not. The Congress leader was interacting with students and faculty at Georgetown University in Washington, DC.

He also reiterated the need to conduct a caste census while saying that 90 per cent of the country's population--OBCs, Dalits, and Adivasis--not having proper representation in the country is the "elephant in the room."

"There's an elephant in the room. When we talk about the capture of institutions, businesses, and the media, the elephant in the room is that 90 per cent of India--OBCs, Dalits, Adivasis--aren't even part of the game. That's really the elephant in the room," Rahul Gandhi said.

The Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha further stressed that the INDIA bloc wants to defend the Constitution and most of the alliance partners agree on holding a caste census, adding that 'two businessmen' should not run every business in the country. (ANI)
