Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has constituted a five-member ministry committee to review and coordinate the action to be taken in connection with the ongoing probe by the state government and investigating agencies into various scams that have taken place, especially during the BJP rule.

Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, Siddaramaiah said, "We have formed a cabinet subcommittee under the chairmanship of Home Minister G Parameshwara, Byre Gowda, Priyank Kharge, HK Patil, and Santosh Lad. There were 21 scams that happened during the previous government; we have formed this to speed up inquiry and to suggest an investigation to the cabinet."

"The committee will investigate PSI recruitment, 40 per cent scam allegations, covid-19 scam, bit coin. I have given time to the committee to submit the report within 2 months," he added.

When asked about BJP's allegation of vendetta politics, "What they (BJP) have done me what's that? (allegations), what kind of politics they have done, we don't do hate politics. We never did vendetta politics even when I was CM last time, but we will take action against anything wrong done."

Notably, Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot had granted permission to prosecute Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in the alleged Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) scam. Following this, Siddaramaiah also approached the Karnataka High Court, challenging the permission.

Further, when asked about the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) having filed a charge sheet in the alleged scam at Karnataka Maharshi Valmiki Scheduled Tribes Welfare Corporation Ltd, the CM said he didn't want to respond as the matter was in court.

"I don't want to speak on the court issue; ED has done it, and SIT has also done an investigation; both agencies have submitted the charge sheet; let the court take the action." (ANI)
