Amid the seat sharing speculation between the Aam Aadmi Party and Congress for the upcoming elections in Haryana, Congress leader Pramod Tiwari said on Saturday that the discussion is underway and they are ready to contest elections on every seat.
"The discussions are going on for the alliance...We are ready for all the seats. We have released our first candidate's list also...BJP will not even get the seats in double digits in this election," Tiwari told ANI. When asked about Bajrang Punia and Vinesh Phogat joining Congress, Tiwari said, "When Vinesh Phogat joined Congress, she said that I wrote letters to every leader, even to BJP leaders. Every party came in her support except BJP. So, she will go with those who stood by her side during her bad times." Meanwhile, AAP MP and General Secretary, Organization, Sandeep Pathak, said that the party is just waiting for the leadership's orders to announce the candidates for the Assembly elections. "Whatever information you all have, I also have the same information, Raghav ji would have briefed you all yesterday. But on behalf of the party, volunteers, and leadership of the party I can say that we are ready to contest elections with full strength everywhere, on every seat. Whoever underestimates us will regret it in the future," said Pathak in a press conference. On Friday, AAP MP Raghav Chadha announced that Congress and AAP are dicussuing to form an alliance for the Haryana Assembly Elections in the national interest, and every possible effort is being made for it. "Talks are going on. We are hopeful that an alliance will form in favour of Haryana and the country. Every possible effort is being made," the AAP MP said. Additionally, AICC in-charge of Haryana, Deepak Babaria also confirmed talks with AAP for the polls. He also said that other INDIA bloc partners, including Communist Party of India (CPIM) and the Samajwadi Party have also approached them to fight the assembly elections together. "Currently we are speaking to the Aam Aadmi Party. One or two other parties have also approached; we will respond in a day or two. CPI (M) and the Samajwadi Party approached us. They are expecting a very small number. They want to make their presence felt in the state. We are also looking for a seat that is convenient for us and them," Babaria stated. Meanwhile, BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala hit out at the two parties saying that the alliance lacks mission and a vision. He further said that they are the same parties that are against each other in Punjab and Delhi but their possible efforts regarding alliance shows their desperation in Haryana. The BJP leader said, "INDI alliance has no mission and vision. They have their own ambitions and operate through their confusion, and they have an obsession with Modi. They want to protect their corruption. That's why they form an alliance in some places, however, it breaks later on. In Punjab, AAP and Congress are against each other. In Delhi, they were together earlier. Now there are uncertainties (between AAP and Congress) in Haryana." The voting to the 90-member legislative assembly in Haryana will be held on October 5 and the last date for filing nominations is September 12. The counting of votes will be held on October 8. (ANI)
