Aimed at bolstering flood relief efforts in Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Wednesday said that Rs 5 crore has been sanctioned from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund (CMRF) for immediate assistance to those in need.

"In aid of those affected by the devastating floods in Tripura, Rs 5 crore has been sanctioned from the Arunachal CM's Relief Fund to provide immediate assistance to those in need. On behalf of the people of Arunachal Pradesh, my thoughts and prayers are with the people of Tripura during this challenging time. We stand in solidarity with you, and together, we will overcome this crisis," Arunachal CM posted on X.

This time Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu has extended a helping hand to resolve the flood situation in the state.

For this, the Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha has expressed sincere thanks on behalf of the people of Tripura to the Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh and the government of that state.

In the post-flood situation, the civil society has come to the side of the government with financial support to speed up the reconstruction and relief work of the state.

Earlier, Chief Minister Manik Saha donated his entire one month's salary to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund (CMRF).

The donation was officially made on Monday, as Saha handed over a cheque to Additional Secretary Samit Roy Chowdhury. The Chief Minister's contribution is expected to significantly support the ongoing relief and rehabilitation activities in the flood-stricken areas.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Saha urged citizens and organizations to join him in supporting the relief efforts. He stated, "I hereby contribute my one month's salary to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund for the purpose of providing relief to the people affected by the floods."

The Chief Minister's proactive involvement has been well-received, with many praising his leadership during this critical time. As Tripura continues to battle the aftermath of the floods, the government's focus remains on providing immediate relief and ensuring the long-term recovery of the affected communities.

Following continuous rainfall and unprecedented floods since August 19 in the state, 31 people have lost their lives, and over 72,000 people have been displaced so far, according to a press release by the State Relief, Rehabilitation and Disaster Management Department on Tuesday.

As per the press release, a total of 492 relief camps had been set up by the district administration, providing shelter to the people displaced by the floods. Clothing has also been distributed to about 300 needy people in Amarpur and Karbook SubDivision.

As of today, six teams of the State Disaster Response Force and five teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) are working on relief operations in Gomati and Sepahijala Districts.

On Monday, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced financial assistance of Rs 20 crore to Tripura.

The Tripura government had also requested the central government to send an advance Inter-Ministerial Central Team to the state for an on-site assessment of the damage caused by recent floods in the state. (ANI)
