Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Saturday praised Comrade Suryanarayan as a fighter both inside and outside the House.

Addressing a National Symposium on the "Role of Labour Movement in the Development of Karnataka" at Town Hall on the occasion of the birth centenary of Comrade Suryanarayana Rao, the CM said that as the voice of the working class, Suryanarayan fought both inside and outside the House. He was always well-prepared for any matter, making his speeches eagerly anticipated. Suryanarayan was committed, caring, and not power-hungry, prioritizing fighting for the cause.

The CM appreciated his tireless efforts inside the House until the people's problems were solved. Reminiscing his stint as Labour Minister, the CM recalled that Suryanarayan wouldn't leave until workers' issues were resolved. The CM criticized the current political landscape, saying some politicians have a Hitler-like mentality, distorting the truth.

Comrade Suri, a tireless fighter, always warned the government through truth, without disrupting peace. The government has formulated programmes for the working class's prosperity and stands with the workers. Right-wing organizations like BJP-RSS oppose our guarantee schemes which are in favour of the workers, the CM said.

The CM assured a positive response regarding the establishment of a museum showcasing the working class's struggle.

CITU General Secretary Tapan Sen, Comrade Suryanarayan's daughter Mrs. Rekha, and many activists attended. Comrade BJK Nair presided over the programme.

Earlier today Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah expressed his concern at "educated people increasingly becoming casteists" and said that protectors of caste inequality killed the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi.

"Due to the caste system, many people were deprived of education. It is a tragedy that educated people are increasingly becoming casteists. Protectors of caste inequality killed Mahatma Gandhi," Siddaramaiah said.

He was addressing an international seminar titled 'Mahatma Gandhi for the 21st Century' held at Gandhi Bhavan in Bengaluru in memory of the 75th year of the Gandhi Memorial Fund. (ANI)
