VP Jagdeep Dhankar extends greetings on maiden National Space Day

Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, on Friday, extended his warm greetings to countrymen on the maiden National Space Day.

In a post on the social media platform X, he said "Greetings to all fellow citizens on the first National Space Day!"

"This day is a reminder of Bharat's remarkable journey in the space sector propelled by the spirit of #Atmanirbharata" the vice president added.

He further stated, "Our spectacular achievements are a reflection of what a determined nation driven by committed scientists can achieve".

"Best wishes to our space scientists, may their innovation and vision propel Bharat to even greater heights and continue to inspire humanity. #NationalSpaceDay" he said.

India celebrated its first-ever National Space Day on Friday on the theme "Touching Lives While Touching the Moon: India's Space Saga".

On 23 August 2023, India achieved a historic milestone when the Chandrayaan-3 lander completed a soft landing on the moon. This remarkable accomplishment made India the 4th country to accomplish this feat and the 1st to land on the lunar South Pole. In recognition of this achievement, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has declared August 23 as National Space Day.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also extended his greetings on the occasion of the first National Space Day.

In a post on X, PM Modi wrote, "Greetings to everyone on the first National Space Day. We recall with great pride our nation's achievements in the space sector. It is also a day to laud the contributions of our space scientists. Our government has taken a series of futuristic decisions relating to this sector and we will do even more in the times to come."

Earlier today, President Droupadi Murmu, visited an exhibition to showcase space technologies and achievements, at Bharat Mandapam, on the maiden National Space Day. Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh and ISRO Chairman S Somanath were also present.

President Murmu extended her greetings on the occasion of the first National Space Day and welcomed the decision to celebrate Space Day on the day Chandrayaan landed on the Moon.

"It was a glorious moment for all the Indians when ISRO's Chandrayaan landed on the moon. I saw the live telecast of that moment, I was so proud that day like other Indians. To celebrate National Space Day on this occasion is a commendable step. I congratulate all of you on the first National Space Day. ISRO has achieved many feats since its inception" she said on this occasion. (ANI)
