PM Modi, VP Dhankhar attend President Murmu's 'At Home' reception on Independence Day

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, attended the 'At Home' reception hosted by President Droupadi Murmu on the occasion of Independence Day at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Along with Prime Minister Modi and VP Dhankhar, Chief Justice of India Chandrachud, Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Health Minister JP Nadda, diplomats and eminent citizens attended the event.

Earlier in the day, President Droupadi Murmu visited the National War Memorial in New Delhi on the occasion of the 78th Independence Day and paid homage to the bravehearts.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi hoisted the national flag on Thursday at Red Fort in the national capital, for the 11th consecutive time, on Independence Day.

The Prime Minister took to his social media app X to greet the country.

"Independence Day greetings to my fellow Indians. Jai Hind!" PM Modi posted on X on Thursday.

Upon his arrival at the Red Fort, PM Modi was received by Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, MoS Defence Sanjay Seth and Defence Secretary Giridhar Aramane.

As soon as the National Flag was hoisted by the Prime Minister, flower petals were showered at the venue by two Advanced Light Helicopters Dhruv of the Indian Air Force in the Line Astern Formation.

After hoisting the flag, PM Modi began his customary address to the nation from the ramparts of the iconic monument.

The Prime Minister said that women are leading the way in every sector, from the Air Force to beyond, showcasing unparalleled excellence.

"Their achievements are a testament to the strength and spirit of Nari Shakti. As we move forward, let us continue to support and celebrate their remarkable contributions to our nation's progress," PM Modi said.

The theme for this year's Independence Day is 'Viksit Bharat @ 2047,' aiming to drive the government's efforts to transform India into a developed nation by 2047. (ANI)
