Union Minister Jitendra Singh said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has rolled out a roadmap for Viksit Bharat (developed India) during his Independence Day address from the Red Fort.

India is celebrating its 78th Independence Day.

After hoisting the national flag at his residence on the occasion of the 78th Independence Day, the Union Minister referred to PM Modi's address.

Speaking with ANI, he said, "... The PM's address to the nation on Independence Day is kind of a declaration of intent of the government's past achievements and the roadmap ahead..."

He also said that PM Modi shed light on the need for having one nation, one election and spoke about the unfolding situation in Bangladesh.

"He talked about the political situation in Bangladesh, the need for a secular common code, one nation, one election, India's strides in space, the National Research Foundation, and Olympic medalists...," he said and added, "PM Modi put forth a roadmap of our vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047..."

Earlier in the day, PM Modi hoisted the national flag on Thursday at Red Fort in the national capital, for the 11th consecutive time, on the occasion of 78th Independence Day.

In his speech, PM Modi said, "I would say that it is the need of the hour that there be a secular civil code in the country...We have spent 75 years in the Communal Civil code. Now we will have to move towards the secular code. Only then would we be free of discrimination on the basis of religion..."

The theme of this year's Independence Day is 'Viksit Bharat @ 2047'. The celebrations will serve as a platform to provide a renewed push to the government's efforts towards transforming the country into a developed nation by 2047. (ANI)
