Earlier holding Jehanabad's Superintendent of Police (SP) and District Magistrate (DM) "responsible" for the death of seven people in a stampede, RJD MLA Kumar Krishna Mohan alias Suday Yadav on Monday demanded a compensation of Rs 10 lakh for the victims.

"This is a sad incident and the people responsible for this are Jehanabad's SP and DM. Jehanabad district administration is responsible for this incident. We will meet the injured and the family of the deceased. We will take this issue forward. Compensation should be given. They (administration) have killed people here," Mohan said.

He further said that this was a major tourist destination of Magadh.

"After this incident, post-mortem was done in a hurry. We will not allow this kind of negligence in Jehanabad. A compensation of Rs 10 lakh should be given to victims. The ruling government has not even informed the opposition about the incident," he added.

At least seven people died and nine others got injured in a stampede at Baba Siddhanath Temple in Makhdumpur, Jehanabad district, in the early hours of Monday.
