A 23-year-old youth was allegedly thrashed by a group of people for stepping over a newly constructed spot in Madhya Pradesh's Jabalpur district, a police official said on Wednesday.

The incident occurred under the jurisdiction of Hanuman Tal police station in the district on August 5 around 5 pm. Upon receiving a complaint from the victim, an FIR was registered into the matter, the police said.

Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Suryakant Sharma told ANI, "During the Jansunwai held here on Tuesday, a complainant Aman Chaudhary came and said that some construction work was done by one Rajesh Sonkar and he was thrashed badly as he kept his leg on that constructed spot."

After the complaint, an FIR has been registered against Sonkar and others into the matter and further investigation is underway, ASP Sharma added. (ANI)
