Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal launched a scathing attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his remark that a 'raid is being planned', saying that the latter is leveling false allegations against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to divert attention from Wayanad landslides that claimed the lives of more than 300 people.

"The people of Wayanad are asking that a report from IIT Delhi be sent. The Central Government also gave information, so why didn't he understand the seriousness of the issue (the Wayanad landslide)? He is leveling false accusations against the BJP to divert attention from such a serious issue. This kind of politics is not good," Meghwal said.

The Union Minister's statement comes after, the Leader of Opposition said on Friday that the 'insiders' of the Enforcement Directorate have told him that a raid is being planned.

"Apparently, 2 in 1 didn't like my Chakravyuh speech. ED 'insiders' tell me a raid is being planned. Waiting with open arms Enforcement Directorate (ED) @dir_ed.....Chai and biscuits on me," Rahul Gandhi posted on X.

The death toll in the massive landslides that occurred on July 30 in Chooralmala and Mundakkai of Wayanad stands at 308 as of Friday, Kerala Health Minister Veena George said.

As per the latest update, 215 bodies and 143 body parts were recovered, including 98 males, 87 females and 30 children. The post-mortem procedures were completed on 212 bodies and 140 body parts and 148 bodies have been identified by relatives so far. (ANI)

Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia also took a potshot at Rahul Gandhi over his remark that a 'raid is being planned' saying those people who have a policy of misguidance, lying and those who feel jealous of seeing the nation on the path of development, make such negative statements.

Earlier, Union Minister Scindia also said that the Congress party was trying to take the nation on the path of negative thinking and ideology.

"Those people who have a policy of misguidance, lying, and those who feel jealous instead of being proud of seeing the country on the path of development, give such negative statements and it is the condition of Congress today. It is not working to develop the country but it is trying to take the country on the path of negative thinking and ideology. It is trying to create disputes between brothers," said Scindia while addressing a Press conference in Gwalior on Saturday.

The union minister further said that the Congress party always opposed the report of every commission. It opposed the Mandal Commission reports, today they talked about caste.

"The Congress party which was wiped out in the recent Lok Sabha election, has not won a single seat in 13 states. If we see the numbers of seats of Congress party in general elections of 2014, 2019, 2024 and combine them together then it has not even been able to reach the present seats of BJP in 2024," Scindia said.
