The use of drone technology is expanding across various sectors, and 'Kaushalya - The Skill University' (KSU) in Ahmedabad is capitalising on this trend by offering drone training to young people.

At the School of Drones, students learn both drone flying and manufacturing. They receive detailed education on all aspects of drones, aiming to cultivate expertise in drone technology.

The university provides comprehensive drone courses designed to equip youths with skills for drone piloting and manufacturing. Additionally, the university is actively involved in drone production.

Dr Parag C Shukla, Registrar-in-charge at KSU, said, "We are the first university in India to have received a license from the Director General of Civil Aviation, specifically a Type Certificate License, enabling us to produce our drones. Already, we have manufactured over a hundred drones. This university stands out from others; it fosters entrepreneurship, cultivates technocrats, and engages in the development and manufacture of drones."

Established in October 2021 under India's Skill India vision, Kaushalya - The Skill University plays a crucial role in empowering the youth through skill development. Currently, it enrols over 15,000 students, with more than 12,000 already graduated.

The university features six schools offering 100+ training programmes, from certificates to PhD levels. Students can access skill courses in computing, woodworking, and plumbing, providing comprehensive theoretical and practical training supported by labs and experienced trainers.

Chetan Singh Solanki, Senior Officer - Skill Training and Development at KSU, said, "Our courses are designed with 80% hands-on experience. Students who come here for training get hands-on experience with all these machineries. Previously, when students went out, they were not familiar with the machinery, products, or quality. But here, from day one, they learn about all the types of machinery, power tools, and hand tools."

He added, "They gain knowledge about these, and 20% of the study is conventional, where we teach mathematics and English, along with some sociology-related subjects."

Jaishwar Rohit Shri Chandra Bhusan, a student of Furniture Design and Manufacturing at KSU, said, "Before being admitted here, I had little idea about carpentry. I thought it was just about making furniture, sofas, beds, and chairs. However, after completing one year here, I realized there are many types of wood, plywood, and various power tools and machines that I was previously unaware of."

With the motto "Education with Skills," the university offers the youth a golden opportunity for a bright future. It empowers young people and promotes skill-based education development. (ANI)
