Union Home Minister Amit Shah extended greetings to all brave CRPF personnel and their family members on the central force's Raising Day on Saturday.

He also paid tribute to the CRPF soldiers who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty. In a tweet, Shah said, "Greetings to CRPF personnel and their family members on their Raising Day. Since its inception, the @crpfindia has taken national security as its mission. The brave soldiers of the force have exerted all their might to accomplish this goal without ever caring for their lives and have emerged victorious every time. I bow to the martyrs of the CRPF who laid down their lives in the line of duty."

The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) stands as India's largest Central Armed Police Force. It was initially established as the Crown Representatives Police on July 27, 1939, and assumed its current name when the CRPF Act was passed on December 28, 1949, as per the CRPF's official website.

In addition to its responsibilities in maintaining law and order and countering insurgency, the CRPF has played a crucial role in the conduct of General Elections over the past few years, the website said.

The CRPF plays a crucial role in safeguarding critical Central Government facilities, including airports, power plants, bridges, Doordarshan Kendras, All India Radio Stations, the residences of Governors and Chief Ministers, nationalized banks, and various other government establishments in states affected by insurgency.

A total of 16 Coys are assigned to provide security for three highly sensitive shrines: Krishna Janma Bhoomi, Shahi Idgah Masjid complex in Mathura, and the Ram Janma Bhoomi temple in Ayodhya.

The CRPF also deploys 6 companies to ensure the security of the Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine in Katra, Jammu, within the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

Furthermore, the CRPF provides static guard services for the residences and offices of the Prime Minister, various Union Ministers, and other dignitaries. (ANI)
