In a bid to alleviate the suffering of the common people in Odisha, former Chief Minister and current Leader of Opposition, Naveen Patnaik, has reached out to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, urging her to facilitate the smooth supply of potatoes to Odisha.

In his letter, Patnaik expressed concerns over the current shortage of potatoes in Odisha markets due to continuous rains, which have led to an artificial price hike. He emphasised the urgency of the matter, stating, "Due to rains, there has been a short supply of potatoes in the Odisha market, resulting in an artificial price hike adding to the sufferings of common people."

Patnaik highlighted the root cause of the issue, mentioning, "I understand from media reports that long queues of trucks loaded with potatoes are waiting at the West Bengal-Odisha border."

In a direct appeal to Banerjee, Patnaik, on Friday, requested her intervention to resolve the situation promptly.

"I request you to kindly intervene in the matter and ensure a smooth supply of potatoes to Odisha," he wrote, expressing optimism for a swift resolution. "Looking forward to your support in the interest of the people of Odisha," he mentioned in the letter. (ANI)
