Assam Civil Service Exam will have questions in Assamese for first time

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday said that the state's Combined Civil Service Examination (Main) will have, for the first time, all questions in Assamese in addition to English.

This year's Combined Civil Service Examination (Main) will start on Friday. The examination is conducted by the Assam Public Service Commission.

The Chief Minister said that the decision to make all questions available in Assamese was made by the Assam Public Service Commission as per the instructions of the Assam government.

"The Combined Civil Service Examination starts tomorrow. For the first time in history, all questions will be in Assamese in addition to English, as per Govt of Assam's instructions," Sarma said in a post on X

"Kudos to the Assam Public Service Commission for this historic move," he added.

According to the Assam Public Service Commission, the decision was aimed at improving accessibility for Assamese-speaking candidates.

There are six papers in the Combined Civil Service Examination (Main). And the exams for them will be conducted on July 26, 27 and 28. (ANI)
