Marking the 25th anniversary of the Kargil War, the Headquarters of the Army Training Command (ARTRAC) in Shimla is celebrating the 'Kargil Vijay Diwas Rajat Jayanti Mahotsav.'

The event, featuring an exhibition and various shows, has captivated the public, drawing large crowds to the Ridge Grounds in Shimla.

The event and the festivities surrounding it were inaugurated by Lieutenant General Devendra Sharma, the General Officer Commanding in Chief of ARTRAC, on Thursday.

This celebration not only pays tribute to the valiant soldiers of the Kargil War but also promotes entrepreneurship among Army officers' wives and local women.

"This initiative on Kargil Vijay Diwas commemorates 25 years of victory and promotes entrepreneurship. It also educates the public about the Indian Army," said Archana Jha, an entrepreneur and Army spouse.

The event has also sparked enthusiasm among the youth, particularly the National Cadet Corps (NCC) members.

"My aim is to join the Indian Army. We are learning many things and meeting senior Army officials here. The exhibition displays weapons, including grenades, which is very educational for us. I want to pay tribute to the Kargil martyrs," expressed Kusum Rana, an NCC cadet.

Visitors from outside the state have also expressed their admiration for the exhibition.

"It is great to see the Army atmosphere here at the Ridge ground. We can see various weapons on display. I would like to pay my tribute to the Kargil heroes," said Suresh Chand Sharma, a visitor from Uttarakhand.

The 'Kargil Vijay Diwas Rajat Jayanti Mahotsav' not only honours the brave soldiers who fought in the Kargil War but also fosters a deeper understanding and appreciation of the Indian Army among the general public.

Every year on July 26, 'Kargil Vijay Diwas' is celebrated to honour the brave hearts who laid down their lives to protect the sovereignty country in the 1999 war. 527 soldiers gave the ultimate sacrifice in the battle that took place in the Kargil region of Jammu and Kashmir. (ANI)
