Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Tuesday said that self-reliance has been the main strength and characteristic of Indian villages and despite thousands of years of slavery, Indian society kept its cultural forms and values intact on the strength of village self-reliance.

CM Yadav made the remark while inaugurating a three-day workshop organised by Panchayat and Rural Development Department on "Atma Nirbhar Panchayat-Samriddh Madhya Pradesh" at Kushabhau Thackeray Convention Centre (Minto Hall) in the state capital Bhopal.

"Self-reliance has been the main strength and characteristic of Indian villages. Despite thousands of years of slavery, Indian society has kept its cultural forms and values intact on the strength of village self-reliance. The workshop on "Atma Nirbhar Panchayat-Samriddh Madhya Pradesh" will effectively help in making the Panchayats and villages economically stronger and development oriented," CM Yadav said.

"Indian villages are the best examples of disciplined, restrained and living life according to traditions and values. With the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to strengthen the system of self-reliant villages, rural life is becoming more convenient and the villagers are also getting ample opportunities for progress," he further said.

Jal Jeevan Mission is being conducted by PM Modi to provide tap water in every house and efforts are being made in the entire region as per the local conditions for the purpose of arranging water for irrigation in every farm. The results of Narmada Valley development in this direction are all matches. PM Modi has made Rs 45,000 crore each available to Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh for Ken-Betwa Link Project, the CM added.

Additionally, activities of Kalisindh-Parvati and Chambal Link Project are starting. Economic empowerment of farmers is also being done due to increase in irrigated area in the region.

The Chief Minister said, "The state government is giving special importance to animal husbandry along with farming as the basis of the rural economy. Funds will be provided by the State Government for rearing old, sick, infirm and helpless cows. Kanji Houses will be developed as cow sheds and such cows will be housed in Kanji Houses. The amount of subsidy given on cows has also been increased, the subsidy will be provided to those farmers who raise more than 10 cows."

Along with this, the system of providing bonus on milk similar to crops will also be started. The sensitivity and affinity of cow-mothers is amazing, a special policy is also being made by the state government to encourage cow rearing, he added.

"Madhya Pradesh is rich in natural beauty, it also has a wealth of Ayurvedic medicines. Ayurvedic centres will also be developed in the region. All possible arrangements will be made to provide a market to the products of small, cottage industries and self-help groups of sisters in the region and increase income. According to the intention of PM Modi, Madhya Pradesh will move forward by connecting farmers, women, youth and the poor, empowering them, and panchayats will also be self-sufficient and increase the prosperity of the region," he added.

On the other hand, Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Prahlad Patel said that the workshop on "Atma Nirbhar Panchayat-Samriddh Madhya Pradesh" would prove to be a milestone in making the Panchayat Raj system more effective and empowering. (ANI)
