Odisha: Police arrests 3 persons in matter pertaining to snatching

The police team arrested three seasoned thieves from Bhubaneshwar and Cuttack in Odisha, said a top police official of Odisha on Monday.

Along with it, they also recovered four gold chains, three mobile phones, and one bike used during the commission of a crime.

Police took action after receiving multiple cases of snatching from the cities of Bhubaneshwar and Cuttack.

The arrested individuals were earlier arrested in more than 40 cases and were released in the month of May on conditional bail.

Speaking with ANI, Sanjeeb Panda, Commissioner of Police of Bhubaneswar-Cuttack said, "We received several complaints regarding snatching from single women walking in the streets from both Cuttack and Bhubaneswar. After that, we deployed our special squad for the investigation, and our special squad they were successful in arresting three veteran snatchers we recovered four gold chains and three mobile phones, one bike used during the commission of a crime. These three are veteran snatchers they were released from jail in May and after that again they started the crime and in the last three weeks they have committed six such cases in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar."

Opening about their crime portfolio, Panda stated, "Earlier, they were also forwarded to the court in several cases, more than 40. They were released in the month of May, that too on the conditional bail. They were convicted in jail for the last 7 years. also, we are in the process of finding the receiver of the stolen property."

He informed that a team will be sent to Kharagpur, West Bengal to do more recovery of stolen materials and said, "We will be sending a team to Kharagpur for more recovery. Although they commit crimes all over Odisha, one of the criminals is from Medinipur and they were disposing of the stolen materials in Medinipur." (ANI)
