Haridwar (Uttarakhand) | July 22, 2024 11:11:28 PM IST
DGP Uttarakhand Abhinav Kumar on Monday reached Haridwar to inspect the arrangements of the police administration for the Kanwar Mela 2024.

During his visit to the fair area, Abhinav Kumar, along with other senior police officers, visited and inspected Bairagi Camp, Singh Dwar, Shankaracharya Chowk, Bus Adda, Jwalapur, Neeldhara Parking, Rodi Belwala, Har-Ki-Pauri, and other fair areas, and after brainstorming on the current situation with the officers present on the spot, directed the concerned to further improve the arrangements.

After this, DGP Uttarakhand held a meeting with all the senior officers in the CCR (Fair Control Room) and shared his long experience and gave necessary guidelines for the smooth resolution of many small and big problems, like effective control over the problems faced in the Kanwar Yatra in the past years, challenging situations before the current police, and better coordination with other departments. During this, Abhinav Kumar directed the Kanwar Mela in-charge to provide raincoats to all the duty workers, and if there is any problem with food, water, or accommodation, it should be resolved.

"I had a meeting with the police officials here and also inspected the Kanwar Mela, as per the orders of the CM...We are hopeful that the yatra will be smooth and successful." DGP Uttarakhand Abhinav Kumar said.

Speaking to reporters, the DGP said, "On the auspicious occasion of the first Monday of Kanwar Mela 2024. I welcome all the Shiva devotees coming to Haridwar from all over the country. I bow to them."

Urging everyone to maintain peace, he said, "My request would be that this is a pilgrimage, and it must be done with a feeling of devotion. I don't think there is any place for any kind of ruckus or disturbance. I feel that most of the Shiv devotees come here with good feelings. It is possible that some miscreants join in and try to defame it, but we are ready to deal with them. I believe that 99 per cent of our Kawad pilgrims come here with good faith and good feelings, and we welcome them, respect them. We also take a pledge to ensure that their journey is completed successfully." (ANI)
