In a significant victory for the state's anti-drug campaign, the Tripura Police, under the leadership of Chief Minister Manik Saha, North Tripura SP, Bhanupada Chakraborty, successfully intercepted and seized a large quantity of Yaba tablets in Dharmanagar, North Tripura.

The operation, spearheaded by SP Bhanupada Chakraborty, led to the confiscation of 10,000 Yaba tablets with an estimated market value of about Rs 50 lakh.

The bust took place at Nayapara, near Geeta Bhawan, where law enforcement intercepted a Thar vehicle and a Pulsar bike being used to transport the illicit drugs.

The main smuggler, Jaggya Ruddha, a resident of Asimganj, Patharkandi, in Assam, was apprehended on the spot. However, an accomplice managed to escape and is currently being pursued by the authorities.

Bhanupada Chakraborty, SP, North Tripura, said, "At Nayapara, Dharmanag, North Tripura, 10 thousand Yaba tablets, worth approximately Rs 50 lakhs, were seized from Thar and Pulsar vehicles."

Following the seizure of the contraband, a NDPS case has been registered against the peddler at Dharmanagar police station, he said.
