Uttar Pradesh cabinet minister Om Prakash Rajbar on Monday said that decision to place nameplates on the eateries along the Kanwar Yatra route in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand was introduced by the UPA government and that the BJP and the NDA government have not come up with any new law.

"It was a law made by the UPA government in the year 2006. The BJP and NDA government did not come up with any new law. We are only doing the work they were not able to do," Rajbar said.

Talking about the different schemes that have now been implemented in the state and the benefits they have been reaping to the people, he said. "The schemes that they were not able to implement for the farmers, we are now helping them. Rs 5 lakh is being given under the Ayushman card is being given to the people for medicines. Today, we are helping the people benefit through the schemes that were made for them"

Further, he said "Today, the Swachh Bharat mission has helped improve the conditions on a large scale. Airports are more developed now. The opposition has only made up its mind that they want to protest.

Earlier on Monday, the BJP MP Arun Govil extended his support to the Uttar Pradesh government over its directive for the food shops on the Kanwar route to display the owners' names and said that he did not find anything wrong with the order.

"I don't find anything wrong in this order. Whatever has happened is right. Displaying names on the shops is not wrong. The person who is eating has the right to know from where they are eating. There is nothing wrong with it," Arun Govil told ANI.

On July 20, the Uttar Pradesh government issued directives for food shops on the Kanwar route to display the owners' names. The directive was attacked by opposition parties in the state which, have cited discrimination on the basis of religion. (ANI)
