Hyderabad (Telangana) | July 4, 2024 8:11:21 PM IST
Days after the remarks made by Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi in his maiden speech at the Lok Sabha, members of the Bharatiya Janta Yuva Morcha (BJYM) in Hyderabad took to the streets in protest on Thursday.

The members demanded the Congress leader to apologise for his remarks and attempted to siege the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) headquarters, which is the state unit of the Indian National Congress, at Gandhi Bhavan.

However, several members of BJYM have been detained and taken into custody in trucks by the police.

The protesters were also chanting slogans against Rahul Gandhi, saying, "Rahul Gandhi Murdabad, Rahul Gandhi Murdabad."

Rahul Gandhi's remark on the Hindu community in parliament has already drawn nationwide protests by the BJP and its allies.

On Wednesday, members of BJYM, under the leadership of its national president, Tejasvi Suriya, also held a protest against Gandhi for his 'Hindu' remarks in Delhi.

Suriya led thousands of BJP workers to the Congress Headquarters, demanding an unconditional apology. He was detained but later released.

On Monday afternoon in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, in his maiden speech as the LoP, accused the BJP and RSS of spreading and preaching violence and hatred, drawing protests from the Treasury benches.

A day later, parts of his speech were expunged, including his comments on Hindus and PM Modi-RSS-BJP, among others.

PM Modi also slammed the Congress leader, saying, "Calling the entire Hindu community violent is a very serious matter." Home Minister Amit Shah also demanded an apology from Rahul Gandhi on this matter.(ANI)
