After Polavaram, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday released a white paper on Amaravathi capital region.

Chandrababu said that the name "Amaravati" was suggested by Ramoji Rao after research.

"Amaravathi has a specific chamber in the British Museum. We are bringing back Amaravathi as the name of the capital, which was previously the capital of the Satavahana dynasty. Nobody anticipated the state's bifurcation. Ramoji Rao suggested this name, and it was put to a public poll. Everyone suggested Amaravathi as the capital. We collected soil and water from across the state for laying the foundation stone. Even soil brought from Parliament was mixed in the Amaravathi capital region on foundation day. PM Modi laid the foundation stone for Amaravathi. Amaravathi is the central point of the state," CM Naidu said.

Andhra CM recalled his tenure as the Chief Minister of the united Andhra Pradesh, where he developed Cyberabad in addition to Hyderabad and Secunderabad.

"I was part of Hyderabad's development. We laid brick by brick and built the city. I toured America for 14 days to develop the IT sector in Hyderabad. After completing the construction of Hi-Tech City and Cyberabad, the entire IT sector was brought to Hyderabad. Land acquisition for the construction of the Amaravati capital region was processed through land pooling. My concept is that nobody should suffer a loss after giving their land to the government. Proper compensation was given to them. This was the largest land pooling in the world. The World Bank presented it as a case study. 34,400 acres of land were given by 29,966 farmers voluntarily. Farmers and the APCRDA entered into a binding agreement," he added.

CM pointed out that Jagan initially supported the idea of a centrally located capital and even built a house there but later changed his stance. Systematically weakened and destroyed Amaravati.

"Former CM Jagan Mohan Reddy demolished the Praja Vedika after assuming charges. For more than 1631 days farmers agitated for the capital region," he said.

Earlier on June 28, the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister released a white paper on the Polavaram project in the assembly and said that Polavaram is a central government project. (ANI)
