Odisha Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan on Monday said the main focus of the newly-elected government was to succesfully carry out the 'car festival' in Odisha.

He said this year Rath Yatra as well as Netrotsav festival will take place on the same day.

"Our main focus right now is that the 'car festival' takes place properly. Rathyatra and the Netrotsav will be on the same day...We are working on this with god's blessings," Harichandan told ANI.

The famous festival, usually celebrated in June-July, begins when Lord Jagannath and his two siblings - elder brother Lord Balabhadra and younger sister Devi Subhadra are ready to give darshan to the public in Raths and visit Gundicha Temple.

This year, Rath Yatra festival will be held on July 7.

The deities enjoy a nine days stay in Gundicha Temple. Lakhs of devotees will pull the three majestic chariots that parked in front of the Singha Dwar of Jagannath Temple, facing East towards Gundicha Temple.

Last week, the newly appointed Odisha minister, Prithiviraj Harichandan, visited the famous Shaktipitha, Maa Bhagabati Temple in Banpur in Khordha district.

During his visit, he said that the government's focus will be on developing the state and the party is aiming for 'Viksit Odisha' by 2036.

The newly elected BJP-government in Odisha was sworn in on June 12. Mohan Charan Majhi took oath as the Chief Minister. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also attended the event.
