The Haryana Wildlife Department team on Sunday successfully rescued a leopard near Bhainswal village in Panipat.

After the rescue, the leopard was safely relocated to Kalesar National Park.

There had been multiple reports of leopard sightings in the Karnal and Panipat areas, prompting the rescue operation.

Earlier, on June 8, a 5-year-old injured leopard was released into the buffer zone of Mudumalai Tiger Reserve in Tamil Nadu after a medical examination. In Jaipur, Rajasthan, on May 7, a family was trapped in their home for two hours when a leopard entered and roamed around before being tranquillized by forest department officials. Similarly, in Ooty, Tamil Nadu, residents were gripped by fear when a bear and a leopard strayed into the town on April 6. In Delhi's Wazirabad area, a leopard injured three people on April 1.
