TMC national general secretary and MP from Diamond Harbour Lok Sabha seat Abhishek Banerjee met former Maharashtra CM and Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray at Matoshree, in Mumbai on Thursday.
Speaking about the meeting Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut said that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had sent her delegation here today. Sanjay Raut said, "Today, TMC national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee and party leader Derek O'Brien met with Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray. There was a long talk. Many leaders talked to Uddhav Thackeray on the phone today. Narendra Modi and the BJP are not having the majority. They are still trying to make the government. We believe that it will not be a good government." While the Trinamool Congress has won 29 out of 42 Lok Sabha seats in West Bengal, Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackrey) has won 9 seats in Maharashtra. Maharashtra battle saw a tight contest in many seats with BJP facing unexpected losses in Maharashtra, winning only 17 seats despite expecting over 45, and Congress having a remarkable renaissance to emerge as the single-largest party in the State by leading on 13 constituencies. Both Shiv Sena (UBT) and TMC are part of the INDIA bloc. According to the Election Commission of India, the BJP won 240 seats, much lower than its 2019 tally of 303. The Congress, on the other hand, registered a strong improvement, winning 99 seats. While the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance won 292 seats, the INDIA bloc crossed the 230 mark, posing stiff competition, and defying all predictions. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has secured a third term, but the BJP needed the support of other parties in his coalition, primarily JD (U) chief Nitish Kumar and TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu. On the other hand, NDA leaders unanimously passed a resolution in the meeting, electing Narendra Modi as their leader. (ANI)
