Former Union Minister Maneka Gandhi, who is seeking a record ninth term in Parliament, visited polling booths in Sultanpur from where she is in the fray in the sixth phase of the Lok Sabha elections being held on Saturday.

Maneka Gandhi, who is a sitting BJP MP from the seat, urged people to vote in large numbers. She said results on June 4 will be in favour of BJP.

The MP said there were minor issues at two-three places in EVMs. "A few polling officers are not well-trained, and some of our agents are unaware. It's a hit-and-miss process," Mameka Gandhi said answering a query.

"I not a fortune teller. All I can tell is the results that will be coming on June 4 will be in favour of BJP," she said answering another query.

Sultanpur Lok Sabha constituency is witnessing a triangular fight between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the Samajwadi Party (SP), and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP).

Congress has won the seat eight times, BSP twice and BJP four times.

Voting is taking place on Saturday across 58 parliamentary constituencies spread over six states and two Union Territories (UTs).

The sixth phase of Lok Sabha polls includes eight seats in Bihar, all 10 seats in Haryana, one seat in Jammu and Kashmir, four in Jharkhand, all seven seats in Delhi, six in Odisha, 14 in Uttar Pradesh, and eight in West Bengal. A total of 889 candidates are in the fray.

Votes will be counted on June 4. (ANI)
