Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav on Friday said that people in Bihar will not follow the trend of lies and hatred manufactured by the leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party but they will follow the trend of jobs as promised by the opposition parties.

Referring to Home Minister Amit Shah's statement that "Unconstitutional' quota for Muslims will end after NDA gets 400 seats", the former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister said that he only comes to make hatred trend in Bihar.

"The people of Bihar will not fall for Amit Shah's lies. Bihar will not follow their trend of lies and hatred, Bihar will follow the trend of jobs. What have they done for Bihar in the last 10 years? Why Bihar has not been given special status as of now?" Tejashwi Yadav told reporters.

Amit Shah recently at an election rally said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will end the quota given to Muslims in an "unconstitutional manner" once the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) crosses the 400-seat mark in the Lok Sabha elections.

The National Commission for Backward Castes in April criticised the Karnataka government's decision to categorise the entire Muslim community in the state under the OBC category and said that it is causing 'injustice' to the OBC community.

"The Karnataka government's Backward Classes Welfare Department has informed NCBC that the communities like Muslim and Christian are neither caste nor religion. 12.92 per cent population in Karnataka is Muslim. The Muslim community is considered a religious minority in Karnataka," the release stated.

The NCBC Chairman further said that a total of 36 castes of the Muslim community are getting reservations under two categories of OBC in the state, but despite that 4 per cent of blanket reservations are separately given to Muslims in the state.

Elections in Bihar are contested in all seven phases. With 40 Lok Sabha constituencies, the fourth highest among all States and Union Territories, Bihar holds a crucial position in shaping Indian politics.

RJD from the Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance), the opposition coalition in Bihar, will contest 26 out of the state's 40 Lok Sabha seats. As part of the NDA, the BJP and JD (U) will contest for 17 and 16 seats, respectively. The results of the Lok Sabha elections will be declared on June 4th. (ANI)
