Tripura: Amtali Police, BSF seize narcotics worth over Rs 1 crore, arrest drug trafficker

A notorious drug trafficker was arrested and narcotics worth over Rs one crore was seized in a joint operation conducted by Tripura Police and C-Company of the 42nd Battalion of the Border Security Force (BSF) on Thursday, BSF sources said.

The Amtali police in Tripura achieved a major success based on a tip-off about a drug operation. Led by Officer-in-Charge Ranjit Debnath, the Amtali police, in collaboration with the C Company of the 42nd Battalion of the Border Security Force (BSF), conducted a joint operation in the area adjacent to Motinagar School. This operation resulted in the seizure of a large quantity of drugs and the arrest of the notorious drug trafficker, Sundar Ali.

During the raid, authorities recovered an advanced pistol, two pistol magazines, and eight rounds of live ammunition from Sundar Ali.

Following the operation, Sundar Ali and the confiscated narcotics were taken into custody by the BSF before being transferred to Amtali police station.

The joint team of the 42nd Battalion of the BSF from Rayermura Border Outpost (BOP) and the Amtali police initiated the raid early in the morning in the vicinity of Motinagar School.

SP West Tripura Dr Kiran Kumar said, "Around 3 am information was received from BSF that, at Motinagar area, Yaba Tablets and arms can be present in a house of Sundar Ali under Rayermura Border Outpost (BOP). The Amtali police, in collaboration with the C Company of the 42nd Battalion of the Border Security Force (BSF), conducted a joint operation in the area adjacent to Motinagar School. This operation resulted in the seizure of a large quantity of drugs and the arrest of the notorious drug trafficker, Sundar Ali."

The value of the seized drugs and materials is estimated to be over one crore rupees, according to BSF sources.

"The operation yielded 59,200 yaba tablets, 50 bottles of Phensedyl, 23,550 Bangladeshi Taka, and an advanced pistol with magazines and live ammunition, along with other suspicious items. The value of the seized drugs and materials is estimated to be over one crore rupees. The investigation is under process," Dr Kiran Kumar further said. (ANI)
