Huge cache of arms, ammunition recovered by security forces in Manipur

The Indian Army in a joint operation with the Manipur Police recovered a huge amount of arms, ammunition, and war-related supplies in Manipur's Imphal East district.

In this joint operation, authorities successfully seized an assortment of items. The recovered arsenal included an Improvised Long Range Mortar (Pompi), a 303 Rifle, two 12-bore guns, two hand grenades, ammunition, and other war-like stores.

"Indian Army in Manipur received specific information about the presence of arms and ammunition in the general area of Gwaltabi village, Imphal East district of Manipur. Immediately a joint search operation, with the Manipur Police was launched. A substantive cache comprising one Improvised Long Range Mortar (Pompi), one 303 Rifle, two 12-bore guns, two hand grenades, ammunition, and other war-like stores were recovered," as per a Ministry of Defence Manipur press release.

"The recoveries have been handed over to the Manipur Police for further investigation and disposal," the force said in the release.

"The Security Forces remain vigilant and committed to an early restoration of peace and harmony in the state of Manipur," the Ministry of Defence Manipur added in the release. (ANI)
