The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a case against a man from Indore in an alleged online sexual abuse case of a minor girl from Australia, officials said on Monday.

The accused has been identified as Ankur Shukla, a resident of Madhya Pradesh.

CBI had received input from Interpol regarding the matter. Following this, raids were conducted at the premises of the accused.

A senior official said that multiple raids have been conducted in the state of Madhya Pradesh and the accused will be arrested soon.

As per the allegations, the accused befriended the said minor girl on the social media platform Instagram. During conversations, he asked the minor girl to send him her objectionable images and videos.

It was further alleged that over some time when the said minor girl was reluctant to share images and videos, the accused started threatening her that he would send the images and videos to her family members and friends, compelling her to keep sharing the videos and images under duress.

Later, the victim blocked the accused on the said social media platform. However, the accused again contacted the said minor girl over WhatsApp to further intimidate her.

CBI developed the inputs by geolocating the accused and zeroing in on his exact whereabouts and also to gather evidence.

During the searches conducted at the premises of the accused, several incriminating materials like computer hard disk, mobile phone etc were recovered, the officials said.

Further investigation is underway in the case. (ANI)
